ANNISTON, Ala. — Pipestone Area Schools’ senior Joseph Kor competed at the Junior Olympic Air Pistol national tournament, placing 14th overall in the under-21 division.
The competition featured 88 shooters from 48 states.
A two-day shooting match was conducted on April 17-18. Contestants had 60 shots each day for 120 overall.
“Joseph had two great days of shooting,” the Minnesota Rifle and Revolver Association posted on its Facebook page.

Kor totaled 527 points during his first round, and 525 the second day for 1,052.
He scored better than 90 points four times during shooting.
The maximum possible score would have been 1,200.
Kor will attend Minnesota West Community & Technical College, at the Jackson campus where he will enroll in the electrician program with the goal of joining the family business.

He may also participate on Bluejays’ trapshooting team.
Pipestone Sportsmen’s Club news
The Pipestone Sportsmen’s Club officially opens for the 2025 season on Sunday, May 4.
The facility will be open from 1-5 p.m. that day.

There will be gun safety programs scheduled for this weekend, including an introduction to pistol shooting class for women at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
This is a pistol handling and safety class, not a permit or pass/fail class.
A donation to the Pipestone Sportsmen’s Club is suggested, but not required. Only shooters and training staff will be allowed at the range.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 3, there will be a women’s Minnesota ‘permit to carry’ class.
There will be required classroom training done online, which will be reviewed prior to qualification at the range.
Qualifiers will receive a certificate allowing them to apply for a Minnesota permit with their local sheriff’s offices.
