The Pipestone Country Club won first place for creativity with its burger called “The Morning Meat Monster.” It included a one-third pound hamburger patty between two handmade tater-tot waffles, jelly, peanut butter, American cheese, bacon and a fried egg, topped with maple hot honey syrup.
The winners were announced on Friday, May 2. According to the Pipestone County Cattlemen’s Association, 1,487 ballots were cast between March 7 and April 27. The burger battle was estimated to have generated between $25,000 and $35,000 in revenue for the participants, including just the single burger orders.
The goal of the burger battle, according to the Pipestone County Cattlemen’s Association, was to promote beef and encourage and support the establishments in Pipestone County that work every day to bring beef to the table. The group plans to bring the contest back next year with a few changes and welcomes any feedback.
