Susan “Sue” Fey-Uilk, 75, Pipestone, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 at Pipestone County Hospice in Pipestone.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 20 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Christopher Amen officiating.
Casket bearers were Chase Westley, Chad Boom, Travis Ockenga, Landon Winter, Benton Boom, Tim Ockenga, Wiley Fey, Kory Frick and Josh Bunker.
Interment was at the Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to go to the Pipestone County Hospice House.
Susan “Sue” Marie Fey-Uilk ws born on July 9, 1950 to Archie “Lloyd” and Maxine (Severson) Bunker in Lake Preston, S.D. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Luverne. Throughout her childhood she attended school in Lester, Iowa; Hills/Beaver Creek and in Pipestone where she graduated in 1968 from Pipestone High School.
Following high school she worked at S&L Clothing from 1968 to 1971, then she was transferred to Casper, Wyo., to help set up a new Bostwick Store. She became the manager of the Women’s Department during her time there. She returned back home to Ihlen where she met and married Donovan Fey on June 17, 1978 at the Jasper Lutheran Church in Jasper. The couple moved to Woodstock where they raised four children. While in Woodstock, they were long time members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Donovan preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1992.
Sue later met Bernie Uilk and they were married May 5, 2001 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone and was heavily involved in the growth of the church and the fellowship among the members. She was always willing to volunteer when it was needed. She was also involved with the Pipestone Chamber of Commerce. She was no stranger to working hard – she dedicated 20 years of her life to building a successful clothing business, So-Jo’s Sportswear, on Main Street, Pipestone. She later purchased and operated The Spot Drive-In restaurant in Flandreau, S.D.
She is survived by her husband, Bernie Uilk, Pipestone; four children, Brett Westley, Sioux Falls, S.D., Troy (Jessica) Westley, Wayzata, Wyatt Fey, Woodstock, Laisha (Matthew) Winter, Petersburg, Neb.; four step-children, Brian (Jessica) Uilk, Pipestone, Kevin (Kim) Uilk, Pipestone, Daniel (Casey) Uilk, Pipestone and Tony (Chrystine) Uilk, Pipestone; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Marlin) Boom, Ellsworth, Barb (Jack) Ockenga, Egan, S.D., Pat Frick, Hugo, Larry (Paula) Bunker, Sioux Falls, Mike (Roseanne) Bunker, Surprise, Ariz., Jeff Bunker, Brookings, S.D. and Terry (Brenda) Bunker, Thornton, Colo. and “numerous” nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Maxine Bunker; husband, Donovon Fey and daughter-in-law, Tanya Fey.
