The Pipestone County Star was present for a first-round volleyball match in Section 3AA’s South Subsection. Pipestone Area Schools played host to Fairmont for the second time this season. Unlike the first match in August, this time the Arrows had little trouble with the Cardinals.  PAS swept Fairmont, and advanced to a Tuesday, Oct. 28, match versus Jackson County Central. […]

The Pipestone County Star was there on Saturday, Oct. 25, for association futbol in Pipestone. Jaguares FC of Pipestone squared off against Buena Vista, a side out of Worthington.  John Draper was present to photograph this event. Here’s a gallery of images. 

The Pipestone County Star was present as Pipestone Area Schools faced Windom Area in the Section 3AA playoffs. The chill was in the air, and fans were treated to a competitive game. Windom Area eventually defeated PAS, 38-36, ending the Arrows’ season. Stories on postseason awards will run in future editions of The Star.

The Pipestone County Star was present as Edgerton Public squared off against Adrian-Ellsworth in the Section 3 9-Player football championships on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Dragons, 46-22.  Edgerton has advanced to the Section 3 championship Friday, Oct. 31, versus Hills-Beaver Creek. The Pipestone County Star was there for the final regular season volleyball match of the season. Murray County Central faced Pipestone Area in a non-league contest.  The Arrows rallied to defeat the Rebels in five sets.  Sports editor Eric Viccaro assembled this gallery. 

Pipestone County Star sports editor Eric Viccaro was present as Elkton-Lake Benton conducted its own competition cheer event. Several schools from around South Dakota competed, including Deubrook Area and Dell Rapids-St. Mary’s. The Elks placed second at their own. The state meet was set for Friday, Oct. 24, at Watertown Civic Arena. 

The Pipestone County Star was present for a pair of cross country meets recently.  On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Star traveled to Adrian for the Dragon Invitational. Sports editor Eric Viccaro was present for the Homecoming football game as Pipestone Area played host to Sibley East on Friday, Oct. 10. The game took place at Paulsen Field.  The Arrows blanked the Wolverines, 41-0, holding them to 100 yards even.  This year’s Homecoming king was Xavier Banjoko, and queen Aurora Winsel.
