Dementia Awareness Walk
A Dementia Awareness Walk will be held in Pipestone on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The event is sponsored by the Southwest Minnesota Dementia Awareness Network (SWDAN).
Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Schroeder Center at 205 Second St. NW in Pipestone.
Teams, individuals and business teams may participate. Businesses are asked to decorate their windows and/or sidewalks with purple to raise awareness of dementia and the impact it has on families.
Anyone may commit to either donating or fundraising at least $20 to receive an official event t-shirt or $25 for a sweatshirt (adult and youth sizes). Registration is needed by Sept. 27 and can be done at 2025-SWDAN-DEMENTIA-AWARENESS-WALK.eventbrite.com
One hundred percent of the funds raised at this event will remain local and be used to increase awareness and to promote dementia education through aging and dementia trainings, dementia friends sessions, caregiver retreats and future dementia education events.
Checks can be made payable to SW MN Dementia Awareness Network and mailed to A.C.E. of SW Minnesota – Pipestone Co., 1016 Eighth Ave. SW, P.O. Box 307, Pipestone, MN 56164.
There will also be barbecues, fudge and homemade baked goods for sale at the Schroeder Center.
