Graduation rates drop at PAS and Edgerton, rise at RTR

The graduation rate at Pipestone Area Schools (PAS) dropped from 84 percent in 2022 to 80.8 percent in 2023.

That’s according to information released by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) at the end of March. According to MDE, 63 PAS students graduated in 2023, nine dropped out, five were continuing to work toward their diplomas and the status of one was unknown, which means they were either incorrectly reported or were not reported as enrolled elsewhere, according to MDE.

At the Edgerton Public School District, the graduation rate dropped from 93.1 percent in 2022 to 88 percent in 2023. There were 22 graduates in 2023, one student who was continuing to work toward graduation, one student who dropped out and one student who’s status was unknown.

The statewide graduation rate declined slightly from 83.6 percent in 2022 to 83.3 in 2023. There were 58,293 graduates in the state in 2023, 5,337 students who were continuing toward graduation, 3,176 students who dropped out and the status was unknown for 3,139 students.

The graduation rate, as reported by MDE, indicates the percent of students who graduated from high school in four years.
